CHALLENGE

Supreme Education Council (SEC) is a government sector that works with the Qatar government to focus on the advancement and development of the country’s educational sector. The council office is ideally located in West Bay, a modernized area in the bustling city of Doha. The architectural design for the project was developed by the renowned firm of WS Atkins International and Company. The project required a washroom cubicle system that could be customized to fulfill the architectural needs within a short installation time frame. As the project specifications did come with its challenges including the required aluminum finish that could develop scratches during transportation and installation. Gibca team modified the standard product along with adding additional finishing touches that enhanced the end product appearance beautifully. The flexibility of our compact laminate solutions was able to overcome the challenging configurations that were required by this project as well.

SOLUTION

One of the main requirements for the project was a full height cubicle system with a minimal bottom and top clearance providing maximum privacy to the occupants. NATURELLE washroom cubicle model was the perfect fit for the project with its strong built, durability and panels that have minimal upper and lower floor clearance for maximum privacy.

With clean cut lines and no visible hardware except the indicator lock in the front, NATURELLE is a chic design with a modern twist. A privacy thumb turn indicator lock, coat hook, and hinges along with shoe were all installed in stainless steel finish. Panels were successfully constructed with a polypropylene honey-comb core, layered on either side with brushed aluminum décor made of compact laminate. Naturelle’ s look was completed by introducing the same finish of anodized aluminum top rail to match the panel finish with 100mm upper and lower stainless steel shoe. The unidirectional satin finishes of the panels complimented the different hardware that was used to build the complete washroom design.

To finish, we incorporated brushed aluminum finish for the back panels of the washroom cubicles. These 13mm thick compact laminate panels were also used for the back panels of urinal sections.

The washroom cubicles were installed using the high-pressure compact laminates, that are highly durable and resistant to scratch. Extra care was also provided during installation so there was no delamination. As for the plumbing system, they were concealed behind the back panels that were also made by the high-pressure compact laminates.

This look gave a unified theme and tied together all the design features into an exquisite looking washroom. Keeping it charming, but also reducing exposed surface areas, adding on another easy-clean and maintenance feature.

RESULT

The project was successfully completed, overcoming challenges such as transportation of the full length and heavy panels, working within a limited space, taking extra precautions with the aluminum and laminate finishes. A clean and modern looking washroom was successfully designed, manufactured and installed for this executive government office. As always, our team kept the architectural objective at the forefront and worked closely with the client and the consultant throughout the project. Naturelle’ s versatile design and quick installation time meant the project was completed within specified lead time while adhering to all the architectural requirements. On completion, all the inclusive products complimented the washroom and gave it a modern 21st-century look.
